Coaching
Process: How does it work?
Once you have decided that coaching is for you,
we develop the coaching partnership.
First we'll set up a
"Foundation/Discovery Session". Before the Foundation
Session, you will receive a packet of information with all sorts of
information including agreements, questions, information and
assessment tools. The Foundation Session is about 2 hours in length
during which time I do everything I can to learn as much about you
(your values, life purpose, goals, dreams, challenges, etc) as
possible.
We design our coaching alliance. We also
discuss your preferences for how YOU would like to be coached. We
discuss "giving permission" to the coaching alliance so
that I am coaching you in the way that is best suited to your needs.
We deepen the discussion of goals and what you expect to gain from
coaching. We discuss logistics of our meetings, coaching skills and
assignments, as well as setting any additional expectations for
outcomes and goals. And finally we discuss tools for you to use to
make your life easier and send you on your way to achieving your
wants and needs.
It's all about you. This is an incredible
opportunity for us to get to know each other and set the ground
rules. By the way, one of the beauties of the coaching relationship
is that it is always changing and growing. If at any point you feel
that you are ready for more, or wanting something different, we
redesign the alliance to fit you in the most ultimate way possible.
Now it’s time for the coaching to begin!
Coaching sessions typically take place by phone (although other
arrangements can be worked out if requested.) We meet regularly and
work on action items to help forward your life and business goals.
An Investment
in You
Coaching is an investment in time, money and
energy. It can also be an incredibly worthwhile investment. What
is your best life and performance worth to you? What is it worth to
your organization?
The investment in time is generally 1.5-3
hours per month. In addition to the initial Foundation Session, at
the beginning of the relationship, we design the format in which we
will meet to best serve your unique needs. You will gain clarity and
greater focus and become more aware of different perspectives and
choices. Through inquiries and requests that may be made, you will
have forward action to take throughout the week.
The financial commitment will vary according
to your individual needs. Most coaches working with individuals
charge between $150 and $400/hour. There is a fee for the initial
Foundation Session as well. Executive coaches charge more and some
clients work with a coach for an hour or two a week. It all depends
on what your individual needs are.
It is very common for coaches to require a 3 -
6 month commitment to the coaching relationship. This is due to
the fact that coaching is a process and that sustained change takes
place over time. While you will most likely see immediate
results, it is not a quick fix solution and great benefit can be
derived from "locking" progress in and making new
behaviors and commitments a true lifestyle change.
While the investment may seem a little
daunting when first learning about coaching, it can be an investment
well made. What you put into coaching is what you will take away
from it. It's all about you. And here's a little secret...when you
are operating from your values and at your best, the other areas of
your life tend to fall into place beautifully and you begin to
attract more desirable opportunities into your life.
